Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) Program Manager

This is a Full-time position in Salt Lake City, UT posted July 20, 2021.

Job Summary

Ensures the Roadway Worker Program (RWP) is geared to prevent accidents and causalities caused by moving railroad cars, locomotives or on-track equipment. Provides expertise, support, and oversight of the RWP program and ensures compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) including State Safety Oversight (SSO), and other regulatory entities. Drafts and maintains a RWP plan to ensure adherence and compliance to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Coordinates and collaborates with Property, Maintenance of Way (MOW), Operations, Safety, Legal and other departments to ensure the work permit process is followed and that it provides safe track access. Develops, designs, and delivers RWP training for internal employees and external contractors required to follow RWP regulations and ensures workers obtain the knowledge necessary to maintain safe operations. Identifies process improvement opportunities for quality and accuracy. Conducts internal and external audits and field inspections to verify the program is compliant with policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field required.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years progressive experience dealing with federal, state, and local regulations. Preferred experience in railroad operations, vehicle maintenance, or maintenance of way; also knowledge of 49 CFR Part 214. Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database programs preferred. Working knowledge and understanding of General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR). Strong written and oral communication skills, comfortable with preparing and making formal presentations.

Pay Rate:
$65,048.26 annually
