Director of Engineering Thermoplastics – Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (Midwest remote)


This is a Full-time position in Salt Lake City, UT posted August 28, 2021.

Job Description:

Responsible for evaluating product markets, production economics, supply forecasting, demand analysis, global competitiveness, and price forecasting.

Collates, models, interprets, and analyzes data; explains variances and trends.

Networks with key industry participants to stay abreast of new developments and new opportunities that may impact market fundamentals.

Writes and contributes to the publication of several monthly reports to be distributed to clients covering short, medium, and long
– term developments in each product covered with a focus on the Americas.

Maintains and update product databases and internal models for capacity, supply/demand, economics, trade, production, margins, prices, and forecasts.

Develops long term relationships with clients to foster repeat and complimentary business.

Helps lead, support, and participate in the ongoing integration process between CDI and ICIS.

Supports internal teams in all aspects of client engagements including webinars, conference calls, and client presentations.

Collects, analyzes, and reports data to support internal decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and specific business performance issues.

Advises clients (when appropriate) on strategic planning, new project investments, market studies, manufacturing cost economics based on a solid understanding of client businesses, industries, regulatory environments, and markets.

Identifies and documents enhancements to internal modeling techniques and inputs.

Recommended Skills/Experience:

Familiar with the global refining / petrochemicals industry, including key industry trends, structure, and strategic issues, especially pertaining to the US.

10-20 years of prior market experience in Engineering Thermoplastics (Nylon, PC, ABS) will be an advantage.

College degree is required.

Proven experience of working in project teams and the ability to work effectively across culturally diverse teams.

Excellent analytical, verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Must be an independent employee with the ability to plan your own work schedule ensuring objectives are met and projects/reports are delivered on time.

Strong initiative and willingness to learn in an information business environment.

Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint and willingness to learn new applications.

Must be able to summarize, write, and clearly communicate market assessments.

Ability to present and communicate ideas and solutions to clients.

High proficiency in written and spoken English
– additional language skills a plus.

Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple assignments at once.

Guides, persuades, and Influences others internally and externally.

Must be strong in building relationships with clients and external market resources.
